Note in some cases I may list an official Dell driver slightly newer version than Dell offer on their Drivers and Downloads Page… How is this possible? As business support is superior to home support, a Latitude model may have a driver update and an Inspiron model released at the same time will not… In both models the Dell Wireless Card may be the same and the updated driver may lead to some fixes. The aim of the page is to list the lastest drivers by hardware IDs so you can identify your wireless card and install said latest driver. Moreover they do not provide hardware IDs on their Drivers and Downloads page (some other OEMs have the edge on Dell here). Unfortunately Dell do not Update their Drivers and Downloads by using Hardware IDs and handle drivers on a model by model basis. In some cases OEMs may have newer drivers than Microsoft which may lead to some enhancements/patch issues. They may also download a newer driver automatically from Windows Update. As a consequence Microsoft will likely have native driver support for your Wireless Card. They have partnered with major OEMs such as Intel, Atheros and Broadcom to make sure Windows 10 has inbuilt drivers for most wireless cards.

With Windows 10 I'm glad to say Microsoft have decided to follow my (and many others) advice on keeping Windows Installation Media Up to Date. Checking Hardware IDs in the Device Manager. The correct variant can be identified by using its Hardware ID c.f.

Often one would get confused with regards to what Wireless Driver to Install. Moreover for each Dell model, Dell usually have a difference in Wireless Card usually depending on region and customisation. This meant enviably one would install Microsoft Windows with newer hardware and as a consequence devices such as the Wireless Card were not recognised after a subsequent clean installation. In the past particularly with Windows 7 Microsoft failed to keep Windows Installation Media Up to Date. This is an attempt to list the hardware IDs of all Dell Wireless Cards alongside their latest driver. Thanks in advance for leaving any donations Philip.
